The Plight of Coal Mine Children

In Dhanbad, Jharkhand, a heart-breaking reality unfolds every day. Countless people leave in the hazardous conditions of coal mines. They are working day and night, striving to provide two meals a day for themselves and their families.

One evening, Manju walked into her tuition classes and saw a group of children sitting on the floor. Despite their empty stomachs and worn-out clothes, their eyes were full of curiosity and hope.

Manju tried to help every child, but resources were very limited—five to six children shared one sharpener. One girl, Puja, held a broken pencil tightly. Puja dreamed of becoming a teacher to help other children like her, but the lack of supplies made it hard for her dreams to come true.

Hunger made it difficult for Puja and her friends to concentrate. They often went to bed hungry, and their dreams seemed far away. Their future depended on the hope that someone would notice their struggle.

Manju felt heartbroken watching these children, so full of potential, facing such basic needs. She wanted to see them succeed and grow into the people they were meant to be. But with each day, resources became scarcer, and their needs grew.

What we provide them

As the coal community lacks access to quality education, its children face challenges in achieving their future goals. To support them, we are providing daily tuition to these children.
